As the national key specialty of traditional Chinese medicine, the national clinical key specialty and the national key discipline of traditional Chinese medicine, the hospital's first national key department and the top anorectal specialty in Sichuan, the Anorectal Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in North Sichuan Medical College has 1 doctoral supervisor, 8 master's supervisors and 5 doctors, including experts from the State Council's government subsidy, provincial academic and technical leaders, national elderly Chinese medicine experts who guide the inheritance of academic experience, new century talents of the Ministry of Education, and hospital grading evaluation experts as well. There are also 1 vice president of the national first-level academic branch and 2 presidents of the provincial first-level academic branch.
The department has undertaken 2 national natural surface projects and more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level topics, and has won more than 10 provincial-level science and technology progress awards and national invention patents. It has published nearly 10 monographs and more than 100 papers in core journals.
In the past 5 years, the average annual outpatient and emergency visits have reached 25,000 person-times, with nearly 5,000 discharges and more than 4,400 operations (of which 50% are third and fourth-level operations). The department has trained more than 100 graduate students and nearly 100 in-service students from inside and outside the province, forming an anorectal team with excellent technology and characteristics of North Sichuan.
